What is coaching?
The purpose of coaching is to make you aware of your own possibilities and abilities, so that you can utilize them optimally and stimulate your personal development. Coaching is a process of trust, empathy, listening and collaboration between the coach and the client. It focuses on re-assessing your mental model and thus changing behavior, mindset and ultimately achieving personal transformation.
What are mental models?
Mental models are the ways in which we understand and interpret the world around us. They are our assumptions, beliefs and perceptions that shape our thoughts, feelings and actions. These models influence us on a conscious and unconscious level and are often based on past experiences, upbringing and culture.
Mental models are like a 'lens' through which we view the world. They can help us quickly and efficiently understand situations, but they can also be limiting if they are no longer accurate or if they hold us back in our personal and professional growth.
It is important to be aware of our mental models and regularly examine and adjust them. By examining, deepening and potentially adjusting these models, we can be more open to new ideas and perspectives, and we can communicate more effectively and make better decisions.
